Privacy policy
Last updated:
Masterpile is a game by iterate ("we"). Until 3 November 2026 it was called Frameline. This policy explains what the game keeps and where. It covers the Masterpile apps for iPhone and Android, and the browser version.
The short version: the game sends us nothing. No account, no login, no ads, no analytics, no cookies. Your paintings, your signature, your solved puzzles and your best score stay on your device. On iPhone and Android, if you're signed in to Game Center or Google Play Games, the score of each run goes to Apple's or Google's daily leaderboard. That never reaches us either.
Who is responsible
The game is made by:

What the game sends us
Nothing. Masterpile has no servers of its own, no analytics, no crash reporting and no ads. Unity's built-in hardware statistics are switched off in every build. The browser version makes no network requests of its own once it has loaded. The iPhone and Android apps only talk to Game Center or Google Play Games, for the daily leaderboard described below.
What stays on your device
To keep your things between visits, the game saves these on your phone (or, in the browser version, in your browser's storage for this site). We never receive them:
- your gallery: each finished painting, stored as the list of marks it was painted from;
- your signature, if you sign a painting: the line you drew, kept so every painting can carry it;
- which puzzles you have solved;
- on iPhone and Android, your best score on that phone;
- whether the sound is muted, and whether you've already seen the hint that shows how to aim.
Throwing a painting in the game's bin deletes that painting. In the browser, clearing the site's data removes all of it; on a phone, uninstalling the game does. Your phone's own backup (iCloud, or Google's backup on Android) may include the game's data, under Apple's or Google's terms, so it can come back on a new phone.
Sharing a painting
If you tap the share button under a painting, the game draws it as an image and hands it to your device's share sheet, or downloads it where the browser can't share files. You decide where it goes. It passes through nothing of ours, and the game asks for no access to your photos or files to do it.
The daily leaderboard (iPhone, Game Center)
On iPhone, Masterpile has a daily leaderboard run by Game Center, Apple's games service. It works only if you're signed in to Game Center on your iPhone (Settings > Game Center). Signing in is optional: the game plays the same without it, and you can sign in or out in Settings at any time.
What the game sends, and to whom: when you're signed in, the game sends the score of each run you finish in the endless jar to Apple. Puzzles send nothing. Apple ranks the scores on a board that starts over every day, and shows them to other players with your Game Center nickname and avatar, according to your Game Center settings. The board button in the game opens Apple's own leaderboard screen. Nothing about the leaderboard goes to us: the game sends it only to Apple.
Apple's role: Apple provides Game Center and its sign-in, and processes your Game Center profile and scores under its own terms and privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy. We never see your Apple Account.
Why, and on what basis: to provide the leaderboard you chose to use by signing in to Game Center (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Deleting your scores: uninstalling the game doesn't remove scores already on the leaderboard. Apple holds your Game Center data; you can ask Apple for a copy or for its deletion at privacy.apple.com, or write to us and we'll tell you how.
The daily leaderboard (Android, Google Play Games)
On Android, Masterpile has a leaderboard run by Google Play Games, Google's games service, shown on its Daily tab. It works only if you're signed in to Google Play Games on your phone. Signing in is optional: the game plays the same without it, and you can sign in or out in the Play Games settings at any time.
What the game sends, and to whom: when you're signed in, the game sends the score of each run you finish in the endless jar to Google. Puzzles send nothing. Google ranks the scores by day, week and all time, and shows them to other players with your Play Games name and avatar, according to your Play Games profile settings. The board button in the game opens Google's own leaderboard screen. Nothing about the leaderboard goes to us: the game sends it only to Google.
Google's role: Google provides Play Games and its sign-in, and processes your Play Games profile and scores under its own terms and privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Google's Play Games software in the game may also collect diagnostic information about how it works. The app never reads your device's advertising ID.
Why, and on what basis: to provide the leaderboard you chose to use by signing in to Play Games (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Deleting your scores: uninstalling the game doesn't remove scores already on the leaderboard. You can delete your Play Games data, scores included, from your Play Games profile settings, or write to us and we'll tell you how.
The browser version and itch.io
The browser version has no score and no leaderboard. It is hosted on itch.io, which shows it on its own page and has its own privacy policy and cookies: itch.io/docs/legal/privacy-policy. We don't receive personal data from itch.io about who plays.
Children
Masterpile's content is suitable for all ages, and the game asks no one for their age, name or contact details. Game Center and Google Play Games have their own rules for children's accounts, set by Apple and Google.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because the game sends us nothing, we hold no data about you from it. What it keeps is on your own device, where you can delete it, and your leaderboard scores are held by Apple or Google, where you can use your rights directly (see above). Questions are welcome, and we answer within one month: ian.deherdt@it-erate.be.
You can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Drukpersstraat 35 / Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, dataprotectionauthority.be, or to the authority where you live.
Changes
If the game ever starts to send or collect anything else, we'll update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
